Botswana, Chobe National Park's - Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge

The summer is in full swing and the Savuti Marsh is a lush paradise. The Savuti channel is flowing well and the abundant rains have replenished the parched earth of the Savuti area. Since Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge was build, we have never seen the water holes so full and all the pans have filled to capacity.
The Savuti wildlife is reveling in the abundant grass and foliage and the predators are feasting on the new generations of antelope walking the plains.

Even through overly grown very lush and green vegetation guest can still spot lone bull elephants which frequent the hills surroundings drink at the hide from Hotel Ghoha Hills main deck.
  • It has been happy meal time for every animal in the kingdom as there has been plenty to eat and go around for everyone. The summer has produced some amazing wildlife sighting and just in the last month were spotted: Two territorial male lions feeding on a sub adult elephant that  seemed to have died from natural causes just behind Ghoha Hills lodge. It was a feast for days as we kept noticing fresh tracks of females and cubs lying close by. Then the laughing scavengers were in heaven after having found a some left over giraffe..
  • The Leopards have been illusive recently and we have seen a lot of tracks upon the roads but we were lucky to spot a mating pair near the Savuti Marsh on a warm sunny afternoon.
  • Small and occasionally bigger herds of buffalo have been surrounding the lodge area especially around the Hide pan.
  • The bird-life has been the best yet as there have been amazing water birds around Harveys' Pan, cattle, little and yellow billed egrets paint the magnificent pan pure white, Grey herons, squacco herons, yellow billed stock, marabou stock, flocks of common sandpipers and the list goes on. Bateleur / short tailed eagle, brown snake eagle, falcons, yellow billed kite add to the endless list of raptors. A pair of ostrich in the open grassland north of the lodge as also regularly spotted.
The Weather has been pleasant with the days not to hot due to the green vegetation and the nights wonderfully cool with the breeze Ghoha Hills get up on the hill.

The Sunrises and sunsets from camp continue to blow the guests away and are simply stunning.

2014 promises to be a great one for wildlife and guests alike. Ghoha Hills have lots of new and exciting developments happening and will keep tourists posted on when they occur.
